Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.
It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 140-metre high fountain in the centre of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.
With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.

We needed to stay in Geneva as we had a flight departing from Geneva on Sunday morning but next time, we might just stay in Lausanne or a more beautiful city and take an early train to the Geneva airport. No need to stay in Geneva - not much to see there and it's not as pretty as the Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen area where we spent most of our time.

The boat tour around the lake is a great way to start to get to know the city for our 24 hour stay. On Saturday morning, as our time was limited we took advantage of an uber to get us to the area of the Red Cross Museum (which we did not visit ) and the United Nations which was not open for tours, but still great to see. We then took another uber back to the center of the city to enjoy lunch and a little bit more sightseeing before we had to leave that afternoon.

Really beautiful city and nice to walk around the old town.
Really beautiful city and nice to walk around the old town. Lots of things to see and do around the lake i.e. Ferris wheel, swimming spots etc.
Found Geneva much more expensive than other cities visited on the same trip so would factor that in to any plans to go there again.

One night is generally enough.
One night is generally enough. Our main interest was the CERN laboratory, which is easily reachable by tram, with travel passes included in the hotel room price. We also had time for a leisurely boat tour of the lake and a visit to the archaelogical site, though we didn't visit the museums, which are also siad to be very good.

It is a quite small city that you can walk almost everywhere historical or popular. public transportation is easy to use and you can go almost everywhere with it. there are nice restaurants and galleries to visit and some museums. if you want to get away for a long weekend and spend quite time Geneva is an alternative. Don't forget to visit close towns by the lake both in Geneva and France, they are very enjoyable and view worth travelling for one or two hours.
Definitely bother to climb the stairs of the cathedral, the view is mesmerizing.

Very beautiful city, loved the lake and the stroll in the city center. Botanical gardnen is lovely and so is the mini zoo and sites in Bois de Batie. It is quite expensive and while people are lovely, you can run into those weithers who understand English but refuse to speak it I only read about in the reviews of sites in France.
The staff team at Hotel Angleterre is outstanding! So professional, attentive, courteous ensuring visitors enjoy a fabulous 5* experience in keeping with the ambience of this superb waterfront hotel. The rooms are huge, impeccable and tastefully decorated with ‘turn down’ service. Breakfast was a delicious feast offering the best of Switzerland, while enjoying the wonderful vista of Mont Blanc, Geneva & the Lake. What a find! We simply can’t wait to return. Huge thanks to all the staff for such a fantastic stay!
One of the newer hotels in Geneva. Excellent rooms & interiors. Helpful front desk. It is located about 200 meters from the tram station. The hotel also gave us a 3 day free pass for all public transport and taking the tram was very convenient to the city centre ( Bel Air station ). a 15-minute ride. The Balexert shopping mall is one stop away. We will return to this hotel on our next trip. It is highly recommended for those who like a modern new hotel & do not want to stay in the city centre.
Located downtown, right across the rail station, in the ideal place to start your walk for sightseeing. The price was the cheapest I could find in Geneva (it still looks expensive to our eyes, but it's Switzerland), and the amount paid was well worth-it since the hotel stood up to all expectations. The housekeeping service was daily, providing new towels, the WiFi had the speed of a rocket, and the reception staff I interfered with was welcoming and pleasant. I would definitely go back.
The apartment was just beautiful. The bed was comfortable and our 4 year old also enjoyed her own couch/bed. Everything was super clean and we really enjoyed the coffee machine and kitchen. Thank you for the nice gifts from Switzerland. Also the baby crib and everything you prepared for kids was excellent. We really enjoyed the stay. The location was nice and quiet and a short walking distance from the lake.
its the best location you can choose for staying a few days in Geneva!! Central train station just in front of the hotel with connections to whole country and also 10 minutes from the airport , car parking in case you rent a car (Europecar is 5 minutes walk) just outside the hotel , 5 minutes walk from the old town , and many pubs and variety of restaurants nearby.
The best choice and value for money.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Crown Plaza Geneva, I had decided to stay an extra day following a ski trip with friends to Chamonix and this hotel was superb, the room was very clean and quite and the staff incredibly friendly. However, one of the best features was the free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel every 20 minutes, this was a life saver for me and I used it several times.
Compared to many other places this was more affordable for Switzerland. The indoor parking was convenient but came at a cost. Property is well kept, staff friendly and helpful.
We usually stay in 4-5* hotels but they just weren’t in our budget for this location, so we knew we wouldn’t get the same experience. The hotel was just a place to sleep. It served its purpose.
Victorian style I love it so much❤️
Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Also, staff are very helpful. In city centre, 2mins.in city train and bus stations, you can catch the public trams just outside the hotel which is free of charge. 5-10mins.walk to the lake. Good value for money. I will recommend and would stay again!
First time in Geneva, it’s beautiful🇨🇭
Great location, close to the city centre and in a vibrant neighbourhood! There are plenty of nice and cozy restaurants nearby and the hotel's restaurant offers delicious food as well. Breakfast is good, the rooms are cleaner than most hotels in Switzerland and the staff is really friendly. The tram station right in front of the entrance door is really convenient.
The ambiance in the Edelweiss Manotel is adorable. The rooms are very nice and cozy with beautiful images of Switzerland. The bathrooms are also large. There is a restaurant for breakfast and if you want dinner. It is located quite close to shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, and the train station.
The location of this hotel was simply great. It is next to the main station from where you can avail all modes of transport, to any location in Switzerland. There are several restaurants and shops around this place and it is just a short walk away from Lake Geneva
Great location very close to the lake and not far to the centre
Comfortable
Bedrooms were clean
Staff were friendly
Breakfast was very good, food is expensive in Switzerland so it was nice to have this provided
I felt safe in the area as a solo traveller
I didn’t stay at the property, they were with a problem in the building and the staff contact me and reorganized my stay in Geneva in another hotel. They were really thoughtful and active to resolve this. Really appreciate it
Delightful Hotel in prime location near Lac Leman and old Geneva. Staff on reception the best and most friendly we’ve ever met. Generous sized room with excellent lighting. Numerous bars, cafes and shops immediately adjacent.
To start the location was great..it was convenient for everything you need. Easy to find from the main Geneva train station. Transport card around the city was an added bonus compliment by the hotel.
Excellent location, few mins walk to the lake and main train station from where one can explore the whole Switzerland. Very clean, easy and smooth check in process.
