It is a stop off spot to go to Phong Na and other points, but the city is very charming, not very touristy. We loved it - go to the street market, the tree hugger cafe and seafood stands on the beach.

Dong Hoi has some beautiful beaches by the resorts, but there really isn't much else going on. There seemed to be 1-2 streets where you could shop or buy things, and there was no nightlife. Caves are really a great attraction to visit in Vietnam! In addition to the caves and nature, we enjoyed the river view and walking along the river. We visited the other side of the river where the locals live in small picturesque houses.

The property is extremely well located within a short walk to major sites and attractions including the museum, the main retail strip, the beach and of course the river. The hotel is owned and operated by a local family who are very friendly and helpful. They speak good english and can arrange drivers, tours etc to many local attractions.
